United Methodist Women

Loxley United Methodist Women (LUMW)

The LUMW is a community of women with a special PURPOSE.  The PURPOSE statement reads as follows:

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know GOD and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The PURPOSE statement refers specifically to “the organized unit of the United Methodist Women.”  It is no coincidence, then, that organization is right up front.  Good organization is part of the heritage of women who have organized for mission.

The U M Women meet every third Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall for our monthly business meeting and lite refreshments with a snack/supper.

The LUMW support many local missions such as the Lighthouse, the United Methodist Children’s Home, Dumas Wesley, and Inter City Mission.   We support the church in various functions as follows: one Sunday in July the UMW conducts the Sunday service; we do bake and craft sales to raise funds for the church; we assist the UMM with the annual, fish fry, fund raiser; we also provide snacks, one evening, for both the children’s VBS and the ARC VBS.  We provide refreshments for the Baldwin County Annual Spelling Bee and the oratorical contest sponsored by the Loxley Optimist Club.  All of this we do to the glory of GOD.
